Hi, my name is Angela, and I’m reaching out to share my story in hopes of finding a living kidney donor.
I’m 46 years old, a mother of two, and I’ve lived in Pittsburgh my whole life. About eight years ago, I was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, and despite medications and lifestyle changes, my kidneys continued to decline. I have recently started dialysis, which is helping me survive, but it is exhausting and takes a big toll on my energy, time, and quality of life. While I’m grateful to have dialysis as an option, the best chance for me to live a longer, healthier life is through a living donor kidney transplant.
A transplant would allow me to step away from the daily struggles of dialysis and get back to doing what I love most—spending time with my kids, volunteering at my church, and being active in my community.
I know becoming a living donor is a big decision, but donors are carefully screened to make sure the process is safe for them, and most return to their normal activities within weeks. Donors also go on to live long, healthy lives with one kidney. Most importantly, this gift could give me decades more with my family.
If you or someone you know might be interested in learning more, I would be so grateful. The first step is simply reaching out to the transplant center to get more information—there’s no obligation to move forward until you’re completely comfortable.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story. By sharing this, I hope to reach someone who may be willing to help me continue this journey of life, love, and family.
With gratitude,
Angela
